Editorial, data and corrections policy
FairPlay combines open football data, a documented valuation model and human review. This page explains what is automated, what is editorial judgment, and how mistakes are corrected.
Who is responsible
FairPlay is independently maintained by Li Kai. The maintainer is responsible for data releases, model documentation, original strategy articles and corrections. FairPlay is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NFL, NFLPA, any team, Sleeper, nflverse or nflfastR.
Primary data sources
Player identity, roster context and football-performance inputs are derived from public, provider-neutral records and open datasets, principally nflverse and nflfastR. Completed 2020–2025 performance is combined with the current 2026 roster snapshot. Source data can be delayed or corrected after publication, so every ranking page displays the current model snapshot date.
What the model adds
FairPlay does not republish an external ranking as its own. It normalizes market context, production, opportunity, efficiency, age, draft capital, position scarcity and team environment, then maps the complete player pool onto a consistent dynasty value curve. Package effects, future-pick discounts and Superflex quarterback scarcity are FairPlay modeling decisions described in the methodology.
Editorial review
Before a data release, the maintainer reviews generation timestamps, player counts, rank continuity, duplicate identities, missing components and unusually large moves. Player pages add a thesis, roster-window advice, factors to monitor and a market-action note. Strategy articles are reviewed for format accuracy, internal consistency and links to the evidence a reader can inspect.
AI-assisted synthesis
The optional trade-analysis synthesis organizes verified calculator inputs into readable context. It does not set player values, alter the deterministic result or invent live injury information. When synthesis is unavailable, the verified numerical breakdown remains visible. Published articles and standing methodology claims remain the responsibility of the maintainer.
Corrections process
Email likaichina1995@gmail.com with the affected URL, the statement or data point in question, and a reliable supporting source. Factual issues are reviewed against the source snapshot and corrected when confirmed. Differences of valuation opinion may lead to clarification, but they are not represented as factual errors.
Images and trademarks
Player names and team abbreviations are used for identification. FairPlay does not enable third-party player headshots unless a licensed provider and usage basis are recorded. Third-party trademarks remain the property of their owners and do not imply endorsement.
Update record
Model values are generated from dated snapshots and seven-day value history is retained separately. Material methodology changes are documented in the repository and reflected in the public methodology before they are described as part of the live model.
